Michael J. Blanchard is a Managing Director and Founder of Amalfi Consulting. Before joining Amalfi Consulting, Mr. Blanchard was a Vice President for Clark Consulting for eight years and also worked for two national firms, both specializing in decision support consultation for executive and management clients. His industry experience includes executive compensation and statistical analysis; incentive planning; organizational review; strategic business planning; and product development.
As a Managing Director of Amalfi Consulting, Mr. Blanchard manages all aspects of client relationships—from developing the project scope and assessing each bank’s situation, to creating and implementing the specific executive compensation strategy. Mr. Blanchard also serves the client as an advisor on various executive compensation and benefits issues, including compensation audits, incentive planning and compensation agreement provisions. Mr. Blanchard has extensive experience in the human resource field, and has conducted or supported over 400 compensation consulting projects over the past eight years including market research analysis, both annual and long-term incentive plan designs, and in the review of specific compensation plans, documents, and agreements.
Mr. Blanchard received his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University and his master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of West Florida. He has spoken at over 30 national and regional banking conferences regarding both executive and board compensation and corporate governance issues. In addition, Mr. Blanchard has authored several white papers and articles, including “Compensation Strategies: How to Keep Your Best Executives Happy” and “Creating Your Compensation Masterpiece: Strategic Plans to Help Banks Motivate and Retain Their Best Employees and Sales Staff.” Both of these articles were published in consecutive issues of America’s Community Banker’s Journal “Community Banker”.
